Purchased tickets and only thing I got was an error message

I purchased tickets to a movie on fandango and when I went to view the tickets on my phone all it said was "Error, tickets not available" I paid $13.84 for the tickets and approximately $3.98 for a convenience fee. I asked that my money be refunded and received a confirmation email that my $13.84 would be refunded. That was on August 17… it is now Aug. 25th and still no refund

Fandango Deceptive Advertising

Beware of Fandango
Fandango advertised a movie as being on the IMAX screen. When we arrived, the movie was not scheduled to be shown on the IMAX screen, only the standard screen. The manager stated that this was no the first time he has experienced this problem with the Fandango operation. We cancelled the movie tickets and the manager apologized for what happened and refunded the Fandango (non-refundable) service fee. The manager's advise was to purchase tickets directly from the theatre.
It appears Fandango can, and will continue this practice in order to collect the service fee, which Fandango states is non-refundable.
Fandango continues to make money, despite these deceptive practices,

Refused to issue a refund...

I couldn't make the movie I bought tickets for and they wouldn't allow me to use the self-service refund/exchange option on their website simply because I used a $5 reward promo (which I earned by being Fandango "VIP" customer). This is silly in and of itself, but I digress. I tried calling their customer service number for assistance and no one answered, so I had to reach out to them using their contact form. All this occurred way before the movie even started. Despite all of this, I received an automated email response days later saying they couldn't issue a refund because it was after the show time and recommended that I sign up for their Fandango VIP account (which I already had) to be able to use their self-service option in the future (which you can't if using a promo). It's obvious that they aren't even reading the customer's inquiries. When I called to explain the situation, the representative said there was nothing they could do. I asked for a supervisor and they told me that it's not possible to speak to supervisors. What a joke! Don't give these scammers your business. Save yourself the headache and convenience fee by purchasing directly with the movie theater.

Website is Unusable

I searched for tickets to a movie at my local theatre (San Mateo, CA Century 12). I clicked your website and it took me to a list of movies at my theatre. I saw the movie I wanted and clicked on it. I saw times and clicked on the time I wanted. What I didn't now was that when I clicked the movie it sent me a list of theatres. For some reason the top of the list was a theatre in Seattle, WA, I live near San Mateo, CA. I tried to use the tickets at my local theatre and they wouldn't work. I didn't realize until I was in line that your website sent me to a theatre in Seattle, not even the same theatre chain.

STOP! Buy directly from theatre!

STOP! Buy directly from your favorite movie theatre! Fandango gives HORRIBLE customer service and their VIP Rewards program is a joke. If I could give them a negative rating I would. I made a purchase and attempted to redeem my rewards. I did not see an email that ended up in my junk mail that prompted me to activate my, already earned, $10 reward. Since I did not know I needed to do this my reward was not applied and 2 days later they expired. I didn't notice this until the rewards expired. Now they say there is nothing they can do to help. The Fandango VIP+ tab of the website does not direct you to activate your reward to redeem it. You need to be clairvoyant and committed to carefully reading what appears to be spam. I spoke with 2 different so-called, customer service agents. The both told me it was my problem and since my rewards have expired there is nothing to be done.

Customer Service Sucks

I submitted a customer service concern regarding the VIP club and received no response. I also tried their online AI customer service rep and it was a flop as well. It couldn't answer basic questions and I could not access a real person. I have dumped Fandango because it is useless.

Refusing to refund my tickets.

I purchased tickets at 7:24 through Fandango but I did not receive a confirmation email until 7:33 which was after the movie started. When I was at the ticket gate I had no email from Fandango. The theater employees told me they were having problems with Fandango and that I would need to purchase tickets directly from them. When I requested a refund from Fandango, they said I can't have a refund once the movie starts. I sent them screen shots of my emails from them and the receipts from the theater for tickets I purchased at the theater. I emailed back and forth 7 times to no avail. Never will use them again.

Half-A-Star!

I purchased tickets for the wrong theatre on Baldwin Road in Auburn, MI, I live in California and was attempting to purchase tickets for the Baldwin Hills AMC theatre. There is a 3 hour time zone which prevented me from correcting my error "before" the movie started! I called the Auburn theatre manager and she could not help me. I finally found contact information and composed my email…the response was wait 72 hours, no response came. I found the customer service line and she said that there was nothing they could do because I waited too late. I really wanted my $34.00 back. Customer Service Rep said that I could not speak to a supervisor (they don't talk to "any"customers) she would pass it on but no guarantee, this is the last response, "We are unable to offer a refund or exchange (see our return policy regar I suggested certain" restrictions based on theatre chain) and then they recommend I open a free Fandango VIP account…and then the email said thank you for "understanding" and she hopes that I will "continue" to make Fandango my choice for online movie tickets
That same day I purchased tickets for the correct theatre but that is the last tickets I buy via Fandango! Shady…Shady…Shady

I Was Only Able to Use Half of my $25.00 Gift Card!

Being a single person, and actually enjoying going to the movies alone, I happily used my $25.00 (Birthday) Gift Card when I went to see Maverick. The cost was $12.00. You can imagine my terribe disappointment when I went, a couple weeks later, to purchase a ticket to see Elvis. After entering the number on my gift card--several times, I got the same message each time: "Error, this card has already been redeemed". I tried texting and emailing Fandango to no avail. They owe me a $13.00 Gift Card!

Customer Service needs a major overhaul

I am a fan of the application and the service to purchase tickets. They are to be commended. I know an executive there and think highly of this individual. I plan to reach out as I must say their customer service to refund a ticket purchase prior to deadlines and their 'contact us' service via email are absolutely horrible. Every company tries to save on overhead. If their executive team independently explored how their customer service options are far from intuitive and response time unacceptable, I would have to think changes would be made.

I didn't wake up with a dead horse in my bed but all other evidence in dealing with Fandango indicate that they are mob-owned. Perhaps the mob has more morals. Maybe not mob-owned. What would be worse than the mob because that's likely who owns them. Difficult question to answer. Best not to do business with them anyway.
